I have always liked the look of Maseratis. There is something about the sleek lines and curvaceous shape that never seems to go out of fashion, perhaps because the cars tend to move with the times in terms of style and design. Whilst the 90s cars were more angular and dramatic, they have happily followed the automotive trends in the 21st century, which lean towards sweeping bonnets and a feminine form. Gone are the panels and angles, and they are instead replaced with sweets of metal and fibreglass that look like they were carved out of one solid lump, rather than pieced together in a factory.

I am glad Maserati have gone this way, as I feel this has produced some of the nicest cars they have ever had available. And my personal favourite? The Maserati GranTurismo, which combines all the smooth elegant shapes and lines to create what I consider to be one of the best looking cars on the marketing nowadays. I am sure it isn’t perfect, but in the constantly evolving world of car manufacturing and design I think they are pretty close to hitting the nail on the head. After all, the GranTurismo is sculpted from its long bonnet through to the slope of its boot, and it really is quite a masterpiece!

So, what exactly about the looks of the GranTurismo keeps me searching the used Maserati dealerships in the hope that one will come up cheap? Well, I shall start with the really distinctive sloping nose, which instantly makes this Maserati match other supercars and sportscars in terms of looks and low down gravity friendly stature. I also love the fact that despite my generally dislike for any cars which are advertised in white, I still liked the GranTurismo, which is really saying something impressive – in fact, I would happily own it in white, which is going a whole step further!

The stunning interior is often what sets Maserati apart from the crowd, and that is no different in the GranTurismo. My particular favourite is the reddish iron coloured leather, which just makes the whole thing a sumptuous pleasure to drive in or be driven in.

Of course looks aren’t everything, as anyone who loves cars knows. How it actually drives is surely as important, if not more so. Thankfully this car does follow through on its looks with a mighty 4.7 litre engine. Whilst I like power and love the roar of the Maserati engine when we rush along the road, I was most tempted by the prospect of an automotive six speed transmission. Whilst in my dream car I could go manual. I am lazy at heart, and having test driven this car it does make it a pleasure and an ease to drive, with plenty of strength and speed in with the bargain.

So the GranTurismo really goes out of its way to ensure that it is a car that lives up to the Used Maserati overall style – and I think it achieves it without even trying!

If you want to ruin your day, never take the time to property maintain your car’s engine. This is a sure fire way to have your car breakdown in the most remote of areas. Instead of tempting fate, why not learn how to keep your car well maintained and working properly.

Check your oil levels every week. Engines run at extremely high temperatures and some models will burn through oil at an alarming rate. You do not want to run dry on oil. This will damage the engine to cease. Once this has happened, you either need a new engine or a new car. Both of these issues are extremely costly. Can you afford to be without your car for a lengthy amount of time?

Change your oil every 3,000 miles. After driving for a certain amount of time, oil becomes dirty and sluggish. Keeping the oil changed regularly reduces dirt circulating in the engine.

Another troublesome issue is the belts. With every oil change, you should have the fan belts and air hoses checked for wear and tear.

Transmission fluid is pinkish, antifreeze is green, oil is golden brown, and brake fluid is reddish. Knowing which fluid is leaking can help a garage determine the severity of your problem. They can fit you into a busy schedule if the leak is potentially hazardous.

To keep your air conditioning system working properly, run the system every month, even in the winter. The same is true with the heating system. It should be run in the summer to prevent any seizing.
